Billy Monger: Redefining Racing

The race is always on for multiple-time race winner, record-breaker, broadcaster, and racing champion Billy Monger. Inspiring millions with his positive outlook and unwavering adaptability, "Billy Whizz" keeps proving that he's an ICON at full throttle - in and out of a racing track.

Nationality: United Kingdom

Inducted: 2025

Notable Record(s): Fastest IRONMAN® World Championship (male; LA1/LA2)

An ICON because...

In April 2017, Billy Monger’s meteoric rise took a devastating turn.

Just weeks before his 18th birthday, a high-speed collision during a race at Donington Park left him critically injured and with both lower legs amputated. However, the Charlwood champ was determined to get back behind the wheel sooner rather than later. Guided by a never-ending love for driving, the F4 star bounced back with a speedy return to the grid.

After securing a podium finish at the Pau Grand Prix less than a year after his accident, he continued to prove he wasn't afraid to set new challenges for himself.
He was awarded the Pride of Sport Award and BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Helen Rollason Award for outstanding achievement in the face of adversity, and his career continued as an F1 broadcaster for Channel 4.

In Kona, Hawaii, Billy proved that the world is his track by completing the fastest IRONMAN® World Championship (male; LA1/LA2), finishing in 14 hr 23 min 56 sec.
His triumph against one of the most brutal races in the world, fighting against fatigue and extreme weather conditions, was covered in the 2025 documentary Billy Monger: The Race is OnHis feat raised more than £3 m ($3.9 m) for Comic Relief 2024.
